Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga Yoga The breathing and the posture

Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic flow of postures combined with breathing. This tradition comes from Krishnamacharya and was codified by Sri Pattabhi Jois in his book Yoga Mala.
Astanga yoga is composed of 5 series of postures depending on the skill level.

The sequence begins with Sun-Salutations and standing postures and closes with a set of inversions called the "finishing sequence."

The practice is a defined set of postures which are combined with specific breathing patterns (ujjayi breathing).

There are nine drishtis that instruct the yoga student in directing his or her gaze. Each pose is associated with a particular drishti.
Bandhas, or internal body locks, are essential to the practice. They are one of the three key principles of Ashtanga yoga together with breathing and drishtis.

The students goes from one posture to the next through “jumps”.

Thanks to a regular practice the body is strengthened and more flexible. Little by little the mind calms down and refocuses.
