The energy of breathing

Pranayama is a discipline in itself based on breathing. In Sanskrit Prana means  the energy of breathing. There are several types of Pranayama, each type has a different result on the mind going from relaxation to stimulation.

Every class finishes with pranayama, usually with  the Ujjai breathing which is the basic breathing.
Pranayama soothes and helps refocussing. It also makes the postures easier. It is essential to Yoga.

I teach more advanced forms of Pranayama during the one-week intensive workshops I give.
